MCA Assessment Update

Now that the New Year has begun, it’s time to turn our attention to the MCAs. The following is some important information about OLPA and the 2016 MCA tests.

  • The MCA testing window is open from March 7 through May 6. The window for each school can vary but should be within this period.
  • The math MCAs are fully adaptive at every grade. This includes grade 11.
  • The updated test specifications for grades 3–8 and 11 will be posted online here: http://education.state.mn.us/MDE/EdExc/Testing/TestSpec/

The test specifications give the public information about the make-up of the test.

  • If students are planning to participate in OLPA this school year, their tests must be completed by February 19th.
  • This is the last year that OLPA will be offered to MN students. If you would like to see OLPA offered in the future, please contact your local representative in the legislature and request the continuation of OLPA. (Find your representative here: http://www.gis.leg.mn/OpenLayers/districts/)

Please keep in mind that OLPA is considered secure material, and is to be treated in the same way as the MCA.
