Meet your new Minnesota NCTM Representitive
by Becky Rahm, Minnesota NCTM Representative
The MCTM 2025 Conference has just wrapped up—and what an incredible experience it was! From inspiring sessions to the powerful sense of community, this year’s gathering reminded us why we love being part of the mathematics education world.
As we begin the countdown to next year’s conference, I’d like to take a moment to introduce myself and share a bit about the national organization that MCTM is proudly affiliated with—NCTM, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
My name is Becky Rahm, and I’m honored to step into the role of Minnesota’s NCTM Representative. I teach math in Luverne, MN, and recently completed a term on the MCTM Board as Vice President. I’m excited about this new opportunity and am looking forward to helping build connections between Minnesota educators and the broader national network of math professionals.
A little background on NCTM: Founded in 1920, NCTM is the world’s largest mathematics education organization. Its mission is clear and compelling:
“The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics advocates for high-quality mathematics teaching and learning for each and every student.”
Whether you’re a new teacher, a veteran educator, or somewhere in between, NCTM has something valuable to offer. There are several membership options available:
- Free Membership – Includes limited access to resources and select journal articles. A great starting point if you’re just exploring!
- Student Membership ($49) – Perfect for pre-service teachers looking to build their professional network early.
- Emeritus Membership ($49) – For educators 62 years of age or older and have 15 years of membership who want to stay connected and continue learning.
- Essential Membership ($99) – A strong mid-level option with access to more resources and publications.
- Premium Membership ($157) – Offers full access to all NCTM journals, resources, and professional development opportunities.

As we near the end of the school year, I know many of us are reflecting on the challenges and successes of this past year and beginning to look ahead to the summer—whether it’s a time for rest or professional growth. I encourage you to take this opportunity to explore what NCTM has to offer as you prepare for the next school year. It’s a great time to refresh, recharge, and connect with a community of educators who are passionate about improving math education for all students.
I look forward to connecting with many of you in this new role and working together to support math teaching and learning across Minnesota and beyond.
Wishing you a restful and rejuvenating summer ahead!
All the best,
Becky Rahm
