New Standards and Small Schools
by Jessica Strom, Win-e-Mac
The new 2022 mathematics standards are officially approved and the first year of testing is 2028. Suggested transitions start next year with Kindergarten, 1st and 9th grades. The high school standards have big changes that will require schools to reassess their class progressions in grades 9 through 11.
Teachers in small schools have a lot of pressure to figure out how to meet the new standards, often on their own. We would like to create an opportunity for small schools to collaborate with this project. Each school will still make their own decisions, but we want to give them the chance to talk about ideas and solutions with others.
On May 28th, 11:00 am to 12:30 pm, we are hosting a virtual meeting for anyone in the small schools involved with making decisions about how math is taught in the high school. We are defining small schools to consist of three or fewer math teachers in the 7-12 grades. If you would like to join the meeting, please register at the link below. You will get a link to the meeting a few days before May 28th.
