Executive Director Announcement
MCTM is happy to announce that Sharon Burrell has been selected and accepted the position as MCTM’s next Executive Director effective March 1, 2020. Sharon has been working as Acting Executive Director and we look forward to her taking on the Executive Director role in its full capacity and continuing to contribute to MCTM with her time and talents.
Sharon shares, “I am honored to serve as the Executive Director for the Minnesota Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Mathematics education is a passion and focus for me. I look forward to the opportunity to continue to learn with and support students, educators and parents in mathematics education.”
Sharon’s background is as an elementary educator in North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale Schools; elementary math curriculum chairperson and K-12 Curriculum Coordinator for North St. Paul; Supervisor of Professional Learning in St. Louis Park. Recently retired and currently consulting and serving on the Board of Directors for Minnesota Learning Forward.
Congratulations to all the incoming MCTM Board members! MCTM has always had excellent representation on our board and thanks to all the hard workers and gifted teachers leaving the Board in April. I am very glad to see Sharon in the position of Executive Director.
