EdCamp Detroit Lakes 2018

MEA EdCamp in Detroit Lakes, 2018

Edcamp is a new experience for many. This was the case for 7 of the 10 of us who attended the October 18th Math Edcamp in Detroit Lakes. The un-conference setting meant we arrived without a known topic for the day. Instead, we got to determine the topics together. With 5 sessions, we had great conversations, learned from each other, and created new connections.

At the end of the day, attendees said that what they liked about edcamp was:

“Meeting with other teachers and brainstorming anything we wanted to talk about”

“Lots of great discussion about topics I was really interested in”

“A lot of open sharing, many ideas, did not have to prepare to be there”

“Great people to talk with, lots of information shared”

“I liked being able to network and hear from other math teachers”,

As a small group, we decided to enjoy lunch together at a coffee shop downtown.

The day was a success! We are looking forward to more. See what a couple of participants had to say:

“EdCamps are my favorite way to meet with teachers and share our real ideas, thoughts, and resources. I look forward to more of these initiated by MCTM!” Shelby Shinabargar, Schoolcraft Learning Community

“Math EdCamp was GREAT! It was a low pressure activity with like minded math people sharing!!! If there is one in your area, please check it out!”
