Last spring, Minnesota mathematics teachers asked MCTM (Minnesota Council of Teachers of Mathematics) for help in finding & learning about mathematics professional development, math resources, information on standards/testing and more. There are 4 great ways to keep up with mathematics news and math resources in Minnesota.
1. Go to our websites www.mctm.org & our online newsletter, Mathbits, www.mctmmathbits.org. We regularly update these sites with information and resources you need.
2. Sign-up to become a Sustaining Member ($25/year) or an E-Member (FREE!) to receive a monthly email with information & resources. If you are not a member yet, stop and do it now HERE. It takes less than 5 minutes to become a member and be connected to resources.
3. Join the online math community on Twitter. We will have articles in Mathbits in November and December with information on how to join the #MTBoS and #Iteachmath communities and use Twitter as your Professional Learning Community and the largest set of math resources available anywhere. This is simply the best place for mathematics professional development and resources in 2017.
4. If you are not ready to join twitter, then follow MCTM on Facebook. We post the same information on Facebook that we post on Twitter, PLUS we work to engage you in conversation about math topics Minnesota math teachers care about. Here is how to connect with us on Facebook….

HOW TO FIND MCTM ON FACEBOOK
• Step 1: Go to your Facebook page and search ‘Minnesota Council of Teachers of Mathematics’. Note, do not search ‘mctm’ – there are lots of ‘mctm’ acronyms out there and you don’t want to follow Michigan or Montana math teachers ☺.

• Step 2: Click on the MCTM icon and ‘like’ the Minnesota Council of Teachers of Mathematics’. Clicking ‘Like’ means you are following MCTM’s posts on Facebook.

• Step 3 (optional): If you want to prioritize seeing every MCTM Facebook post, then there is one more additional step. Go to MCTM’s Facebook page and CLICK on ‘Following’ and SELECT ‘See First’. Doing this will allow you to see MCTM’s new posts before other pages you follow every time you sign onto Facebook.

That’s all you need to do to stay connected to the Minnesota Math Community. The next step is to engage with us. If we ask a question, post an answer, a resource or a photo. Look for events happening around Minnesota related to mathematics. Ask questions. We want to hear from you. Let us know how MCTM’s volunteers can help you in your mathematics classrooms.

Here are a few questions you will see soon on MCTM’s Facebook page. Go there and tell us what you think.
