MCTM CONNECT (Committee to Orient and Network New/Novice Educators into a Community of (Math) Teaching) is an MCTM initiative that aims to provide support for pre-service mathematics teachers and those in their first few years in the profession. This summer, I along with Region 7 Director Becky Rud, attended the NCTM Affiliates Leaders Conference in Phoenix. We found a common challenge is that change isn’t easy and we spent time with the ideas presented in the book “Switch: How to Change Things When Change Is Hard” (Chip Heath & Dan Heath, 2010).
